Latest from Lebanon (Oct 1, 2007)
Things in Lebanon are moving forward. Despite fears of future outbreaks of violence, peace resumes in Lebanon.
The gun battles between the Lebanese army and "Fatah al Islam" have stopped. Life in the streets have become normal, and ministry goes on. Everyone, is sitting waiting to hear the latest on what will happen with the coming elections. Who will become the next leader of Lebanon? There are many missionaries, that are eagerly waiting to see what will happen next. Many whom, have been deported and banned. Meanwhile; ministry moves forward. Many people are still coming to Christ despite difficulties.
"We have just gotten a new building to hold our new growing number of people...We have started holding meetings for all kinds of people; we have Sudanese, Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Russians, Sudanese, meetings happening every day." Many are coming to Christ, despite the dangers that lay ahead.
The situation looks dangerous for foreign missionaries. It seems that they could easily face deportation and banning, despite there being freedom of religion in Lebanon.
AFC is forming teams to go and work alongside the national believers there. AFC in Lebanon needs reinforcement. That is what we plan to do, send more missionaries there during this incredible opportunity that we are experiencing.
