Christian Rights in Iraq
Recently, while in Iraq. I met a believer from Baghdad. I asked him about what the state of evangelism was in Baghdad, he said that people are only sharing faith with Catholics, that they are afraid to try among the Shia or the Sunni.
He said, "Tell America about the rights of the Christians here. Right now the Evangelical Church is not recognized by the government. This causes a lot of problems."
He went on to say that if someone is ordained in the Evangelical Church, it doesn't matter to the government.
Someone who leaves Islam or Catholism to get born again, are currently not allowed to get married. Since the Catholics, or the Muslims won't marry a new "evangelical couple" they cannot get married.
Pastors in Iraq do not have the right to "marry or burry".
Imagine passing out tracts, and realizing that people who come to Christ, will not be able to get married unless they leave the country. Then their marriage might not be recognized by the government.
Telling people to come to Christ, for joy and prosperity seems somewhat silly now .
Many people are quick to repeat John 3:16 without John 3:17 - 18.
"16 For God so loved See ch. 1:29 the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not ch. 10:28 perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 ch. 5:24; [Mark 16:16] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. "
Without Christ, these people are going to Hell. We have the gift of everlasting life. Everything else is minor.
