Is a cookie team a work team? Yes, because you will build brick- enclosed ovens at three of our AIDS Orphans Rescue Units. These large ovens will continue to be used at each Unit. After completing the ovens, the orphans will help the team mix the cookie dough, cut the cookies out with over 100 different cookie cutters, then ice and decorate them. You will then share the cookies and the Gospel with people in the area. After Boot Camp, this mission trip will begin with a flight from Orlando International Airport to Dulles International Airport in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. Your next flight crosses the Atlantic Ocean to Rome, Italy for refueling, then over the Sahara Desert to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The team will overnight in a hotel before continuing the next morning to Lilongwe, Malawi, known as the “Warm Heart of Africa”. Upon arrival the team will load the Teen Missions in Malawi truck for the two-hour drive to Chipoka, located on Lake Malawi. The team will stay at the TMI base for the first night and visit the Unit located on the base. After you recoup, the team will truck to the Units in the scenic Dedza Mountains. While here, you will visit Dedza Pottery, an artisan workshop located in this region known for its beautifully- decorated pottery. Here you can purchase handmade ceramic ware with African motifs and a number of other souvenirs. An outing to Senga Bay will give you the chance to enjoy a relaxing rest on the beach and an opportunity to barter for souvenirs including drums, wood and stone carvings, baskets, wrap skirts and unique handmade toys.
