After your training at the Lord’s Boot Camp in Merritt Island, Florida, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight bound for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. A 45-mile bus trip will take you to your destination, the Teen Missions camp on the edge of the South Saskatchewan River. The Canadian office of Teen Missions is located nearby in the town of Outlook. Landscaping will be a major part of your project which may include: mulching footpaths, clearing brush, digging and grading ditches. You will have opportunities to share your faith individually as well as in local churches and nearby communities, using puppets, drama and music. There may be an opportunity to be in a parade to raise awareness for the work of Teen Missions in Canada. Your housing will be in cabins with bunk beds. On sightseeing day, you may travel 20 miles south to see the Gardiner Dam, built in 1967, creating Lake Diefenbaker. Circumstances may allow you to enjoy some late night star gazing under the Living Sky. In Outlook, you will be able to hike on the Trans Canada Trail across a 3⁄4 mile bridge and you may swim in the heated outdoor pool at a nearby park. The surrounding area supports much wildlife such as deer, coyotes, antelope and beavers. |
