Title:

Iceland Reforestation | Teen Trip

Description:

Journey to a land of boiling mud pools, spouting geysers, glaciers and waterfalls! Icelands landscape is pure, unpolluted, lush and green with days where the sun dips to the horizon, but never sets. Iceland was once covered with trees, but now large trees are scarce and forests have been replaced by sheep and horse pastures. Help serve the wonderful people of Iceland by planting trees to provide a much-needed natural resource.

Following your training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you will fly from the Orlando International Airport, along the eastern Seaboard to Reykjavik, Iceland. As you travel southeast from the modern capital, you will see lava fields, volcanoes, waterfalls and ice-capped mountains, assuring you that “The Land of Fire and Ice” truly lives up to its name.

Your bus ride will take you through the village of Hvolsvollur to a Christian conference center at the foot of a glacier. This conference center hosts an annual family camp with thousands of Icelanders each year!

You will help in many areas with this family camp and have the opportunity to share using music, puppets and drama with those in attendance. Housing will vary between tents and dorms with hot showers available. Laundry will be done in buckets in crystal clear glacier springs.

Sightseeing trips may take you to the world famous Blue Lagoon or to the nearby Westman Islands where you may get a glimpse of the elusive puffin. Be sure to take home a wool blanket, sweater or hat to remind you of your amazing summer in this beautiful country.
