Come and enjoy an exciting and fun-filled summer in the beautiful country of France. After completing your Boot Camp training, you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Paris. While on the bus ride from the airport, enjoy the scenic countryside and pass historic chateaus on your way to Chalon sur Saone, located in the Burgundy region of east-central France. Your home for the summer will be at La Porte Ouverte (The Open Door), a missionary training and retreat center located just outside the city of Chalon. Your project will be to continue renovating and painting the 200- and 300- year-old chateaus and doing other jobs necessary on the property. Housing will be in tents, and hot showers will be available. Laundry will be done using buckets. You may have an opportunity to interact with the visitors in La Porte Ouverte who have come for spiritual retreat and refreshment and to bless them with puppets, music, drama and testimonies. Take a day trip into Chalon or watch the fireworks over the Saone River for Bastille Day. Enjoy a trip to Paris where you will have a chance to see some of the famous and historical sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame. Visit the shops while you’re there and see what souvenirs you would like to take home, such as miniature replicas of the Eiffel Tower, hand-painted porcelain and sketches of the different sights. |
