With a population of over 20 million, whose average age is 15 years old, your ministry will make a lasting, positive impact on the future leaders of Uganda. You CAN make a difference as you use basketball evangelism and construction skills to spread God’s love in “The Pearl of Africa!”—a country nestled in the heart of the continent. After training at the Lord’s Boot Camp you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. From here you fly across the eastern provinces of Canada and Greenland to London, England. From London, a connecting flight takes you across the Mediterranean Sea, the Sahara Desertand the Equator before landing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From here it is a short flight toEntebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria. The three-hour ride by Teen Missions truck will take you through the capital city ofKampala, and past villages, lush vegetation and rolling hills until you reach Teen Missions property near the village of Gulama. You will sleep in tents at this hilltop campground; bathing and laundry will be done using a bucket. Your project will be to construct a “tabernacle” for the Uganda Boot Camp using red clay bricks to build low walls and pillars. This building will serve as a meeting hall for Boot Camp and will also be used by the orphans from the nearby House of Kindness Rescue Unit. These orphans will love spending every spare minute with you. In addition to your work project, basketball evangelism will allow you to minister to students at local area schools. Sport sessions will be followed by presentations where you will use music, puppets, drama and testimonies to present the Gospel. Before it is time to leave Uganda you will travel to Jinja to visit the source of theNile, the place David Livingstone sought all his life and never found. Enjoy plenty of shopping for djembes and other drums, ornate African clothing, wood carvings, spears, baskets, bags, jewelry and so much more. Following your project you return to Addis Ababa for Debrief. (Note: Ethiopia Debrief) |
