Answer the call as Isaiah did, saying "Here am I Lord, send me!" and come to Malawi to help provide safe shelter for girls. Many girls have to walk long distances, each way, to go to school. When they try to seek closer lodging, they are often exploited or abused. AIDS Orphans and Street Children provides safe housing at the Teen Missions Matron Units. Following Boot Camp training, you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Washington D.C. From Washington a flight takes you across the Atlantic Ocean, Ireland and the United Kingdom, toLondon, England. A connecting flight across the Mediterranean Sea, the Sahara Desert and the Equator brings you to Nairobi, Kenya. From here it is a short flight to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. A two-hour bus ride takes you to the Teen Missions in Malawi Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center located on the shores of Lake Malawi. David Livingstone was the first white man to discover this body of water once called Lake Nyasa. You will be able to rest and meet with the BMW students before heading out to the bush where the Matron Units are located. Your project is to build kitchen and bathroom facilities at two locations. Housing will be in tents; bathing and laundry will be done using buckets. Fellowship with the students at the nearby school as you sing and play games with them, and try to learn each other’s language. Presentations using singing, puppets and drama will allow you to share your faith with these girls. You will have the opportunity to visit Liwonde National Park to see hippos grazing, elephants bathing and crocodiles lounging in the sand. Souvenirs such as intricately-designed wood carvings, national artwork and traditional drums are available for purchase. Following your project you return to Nairobi for Debrief.
