Head to the heart of the Amazon River Basin, for a real Brazilian-style Amazon River adventure. Upon completion of training at the Lord’s Boot Camp you bus to the Miami International Airport for a flight across the Grand Cayman Islands, the Caribbean Sea and the world-famous Panama Canal before landing in Panama City,Panama. A connecting flight takes you over Colombia and theAndes Mountains to Manaus, Brazil, home of the world-famousTeatro Amazonas Opera House. Your adventure begins in this city strategically placed at the “meeting of the waters”, where the Rio Negro flows side by side with the mighty Amazon. Here you will use your evangelism skills in music, puppets and drama to share God’s love across cultural barriers. After a few days of ministry, you will board an Amazon riverboat, hang your hammock and set sail for a five-day journey down the Amazon to Belem, located on the Atlantic Ocean. While traveling you will see unique jungle scenery, anacondas, parrots and monkeys, as well as giant lily pads. Upon arrival, you will take a two-hour bus ride to the Teen Missions in Brazil Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center in Sao Miguel do Guama. Experience the friendly Brazilian culture as you fellowship and work together with the BMW students doing evangelism and children’s programs in nearby communities and completing various projects on the base to further its ongoing ministries. For a change in scenery, board the TMI boat “Light of Guama” and spend a few days on the Guama River, a local tributary of the Amazon, reaching out to the people through evangelistic film showings and children’s programs. Housing will vary based on location; laundry and bathing will be done using a bucket. A taste of a Brazilian barbeque known as a churrasco is a must, and you will have opportunity to buy those souvenir soccer shirts, machetes, hammocks and Indian artifacts to take home. You return to Florida for Debrief. (Note: Florida Beach Debrief) |
