More than 650,000 children have been orphaned by AIDS in Zambiaalone. Do you truly have a servant’s heart? Show it by making a difference in the lives of these children as you wash their feet and put a clean pair of socks and shoes on them. Following training you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Washington D.C. A connecting flight takes you across the Atlantic Ocean, andWestern Europe, to Rome, Italy. After refueling you continue across the Mediterranean Sea, the sands of the Sahara Desert and the mighty Nile River before arriving in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. A connecting flight brings you to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. A five-hour truck ride takes you to the Teen Missions in Zambia Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center in Ndola. From here your team travels deep into the bush to work at three AIDS Orphans Rescue Units to minister to the orphans. The gift of these shoes will prove invaluable in preventing sores and infections and protecting their feet during long walks to school, especially during the cold winter months. Overwhelmed by your acts of kindness, the children will bless you with brilliant smiles as you follow the example set by Jesus to care for “one of the least of these”. You will enjoy playing games with the orphans and presenting the Gospel message through puppets, music, drama and personal testimonies. Various practical work projects done at the Rescue Units will benefit the orphans in many ways. Because of the number of shoes and socks you are taking, you will only be permitted to pack what can fit into a Teen Missions-issued carryon. Housing is in tents; bathing and laundry are done using a bucket. You will also take a trip to “the smoke that thunders”—Victoria Falls—a breathtaking waterfall on the Zambezi River that was discovered by David Livingstone in 1855. Following your project you return to Addis Ababa forEthiopia Debrief. |
