Beautiful vistas scattered with ancient temples, silk farms and rice paddies make up the landscapes of Cambodia. Spend your summer in this country ministering to a people lost in their devotion to Buddhism. After training you bus to the Orlando International Airport to board a flight to Los Angeles. Continue across the Pacific Ocean and the International Date Line, before arriving inTaipei, Taiwan for a refueling stop. You then cross the South China Sea and Vietnam, toKuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Your next flight takes you directly into Siem Reap, Cambodia’s most popular tourist destination. After a 30-minute truck ride you arrive at the Teen Missions in Cambodia Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center, your home for the summer. While in Cambodia you will see outdoor markets filled with everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, to chicken heads and the local treat, fried spiders. Your work project will be to continue building the second floor of the BMW school building. On weekends you will share the Gospel using music, puppets and drama in the surrounding villages at the invitation of national pastors. Housing will be in dorms and showers are available. Travel by “tuk tuk” to the famous temples of Angkor Wat. Here you may be able to ride an elephant and see local artisans making traditional crafts. From Siem Reap, travel by boat down the Tonle Sap River to the capital city of Phnom Penh where you will visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields, evidences of the terrible effects the Khmer Rouge had on the country in recent history. Practice your bartering skills as you shop for silks, wooden carvings, jewelry and clothing including traditional embroidered shirts and skirts. You return to Malaysia forDebrief.
