Venez en France! Come to France for an exciting, memory-filled summer ministry experience. After Boot Camp training, you pack up and head to the Miami International Airport for your transatlantic flight to Paris, France. A short connecting flight takes you to Lyon. From the airport it is a two-hour ride through the scenic countryside and past historic ch‰teaux, abbeys and idyllic rivers to Chalon sur Sa™ne, situated in the Burgundy region of east-central France. You will pitch your tent in the serene grassy lawns shaded by century-old trees at La Porte Ouverte (The Open Door), a missionary training and retreat center located just outside of the city. Your project will be to renovate a three-story, 100-year-old building by wallpapering, painting and doing any other jobs necessary. Hot showers are available and laundry will be done using a bucket. During free time you may interact with visitors at La Porte Ouverte who have come for spiritual retreat and refreshment. You may also have the opportunity to visit a historic ch‰teau or go boating on the Sa™ne River. Share your faith in the local town using music, puppets, testimonies and drama. A sightseeing trip to Paris is planned where you will see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Notre Dame. Souvenirs of your summer available for purchase include miniature replicas of the Eiffel Tower, clothing and hand-painted porcelain. After your project is completed you bus from your project site through the French Alps to Switzerland for Debrief. (Note: Switzerland Debrief) |
