Hey, just wondering, why do missions trips always cost money? Aren't there any trips out there where I can go and serve, without paying to do so? I wouldn't be expecting to make any profit out of it, just go there stay in a tent, buy spring water, etc. Is there anything like that?

Hi, I'm from Connecticut and have been donating and helping raise the awareness of the problems in Africa for about three years now. I have always been wanting to help in Africa firsthand ever since i was little, I am fourteen now and am turning fifteen in November so i would probably apply for next summer or the summer after that. The quest seems ideal to me, however my Mom and Dad are concerned about my safety along the trip and would like to know that i am 100% safe, which i know is never the case, but I would like to know additional information so that I will be able to persuade them to let me apply for the trip. I know that it would be an amazing oppurtunity for me. Thanks, Julia.
